Rui Kamishiro vs. Miu Iruma (Project SEKAI vs. Danganronpa)
“The difference between insanity and genius is only measured by success.” - Bruce Feirstein
Rui Kamishiro, inventor of the Wonderlands X Showtime troupe.
Miu Iruma, the Ultimate Inventor.
The brilliance of the young cannot be understated. Even as the wheels of time go on, our capacity to grow and create doesn’t increase - it was already there. These two brilliant teenaged inventors have stretched the capabilities of what was thought possible, and while they may be isolated by their peers due to some of their… personality quirks, but they still strive on to their dreams regardless. However, on this April Fool’s, we’ll be pitting these two against each other - will Miu succeed in the killing game this time? Or will Rui show that this project was his to complete? Let’s find out in this DEATH BATTLE!
Before We Start…
In terms of Rui’s material, we’ll be using the Project Sekai: Colorful Stage! main game (any MVs, cards, and events in the main stories/events, including April Fools ones) and the manga, the film, various different livestreams and concerts, any statements, the Petit Sekai series, as well as Enstars, as that game has a planned crossover with Project SEKAI - as such, scaling him to any feats from it should be fine. Miu is comparatively a lot more straightforward - we’ll be using all of Danganronpa V3, including Ultimate Talent Development Plan’s abilities. She will not be getting scaling to the other canon of Danganronpa from it, but any abilities within UTDP itself should be fair game.
Also uh massive spoilers for V3 lol.

Background
Rui Kamishiro
“Now then, it's time to see what kind of a story is waiting for us.”
A carefree genius director, from a young age, Rui Kamishiro struggled to get along with his peers due to the vast differences in what they found fun, and often what he found fun, others found strange and thought of him to be weird. For a while, he didn’t really have anyone to talk to besides his only friend at school, Mizuki Akiyama, And his next door neighbor Nene Kusanagi, albeit they didn’t initially talk due to Nene's shyness. This would all change once their moms took them to see a “My Little Mermaid” play. This is what properly sparked Rui and Nene’s friendship as they would warm up to each other, but this would also spark Rui’s interest in theater: something that would pave the path to his future as this is what he aspired to do.
For a while, Rui mostly performed shows all by himself, using his robotic creations as his fellow actors. He was mostly seen either performing on the street or in Phoenix Wonderland, usually ending in the park's security chasing him around because of unauthorized performances. Eventually, one of these performances would later lead to an encounter with someone important to Rui: Tsukasa Tenma, who, alongside fellow group member Emu Otori, was looking forward to inviting new faces.
It wouldn’t be hard for the other to find the other either, as Rui had recently transferred to Kamiyama, and once he got news that Tsukasa was searching for him, he had one of his drones follow Tsukasa around. When the two met, Rui agreed to join Tsukasa under one condition: he let someone else he recommended join. Tsukasa agreed, But to his surprise this wasn’t just anyone, rather a remotely controlled robot, only there because the person controlling it didn’t want to appear due to stage fright. Although they were nearby in the bushes, It did have a name — Nene Kusanagi, Rui's childhood friend. On their first performance, things went unexpected: because Nene had forgotten to charge Robo-Nene the night before, it malfunctioned and shut down mid performance, leaving Tsukasa enraged, and leading Rui to a choice. He didn’t want to be a part of a dysfunctional group like this, so he turned around and left the group.
Over the following days, Rui would perform his own shows in Shibuya — alone. Unfortunately, nobody watched him to his own disarray. But that's when he was approached again by the same three people. Having made up with Nene, they attempted to convince Rui to rejoin the group, only for him to decline, saying that he had zero interest in joining again. Later that night — however — he would be brought by the trio into The Wonderland Sekai — an alternate world born from Tsukasa's feelings, where after watching the young man pour his heart out to Rui in a final attempt to get him to come back, he finally is convinced, and Wonderlands X Showtime is formed.
Overtime, the four of them would get onto the wildest things as a troupe: from putting on a Stella (haha) 30th Anniversary performance at Phoenix Wonderland, to getting stranded on a desert island after a friend’s boat crashed from a storm (it’s a long story), the four of them have created very vivid memories together that could last a lifetime. They know — however — that one day, they’ll all have to go on their own separate paths, and Rui’s curtain calling is fast arriving, as he's currently finishing the third year. Whether he’ll pursue his dreams, or find another way to his own dreams of a director, Rui knows that even when separated from his troupe, one day everyone will come back together, and someday they might be able to perform as a troupe again.
Miu Iruma
There was once a franchise named Danganronpa. A popular series of games, anime, and the like - however, the world decided that they wanted to make it more… “real”. And as such, the Danganronpa television show was born. People from across the world would volunteer to join the show, to become “real” fiction. And such was the case with the girl who became Miu Iruma. We don’t know much about who she was before the show, but during the show itself? It’s hard to not know who she became.
Miu’s fake life was normal when she was young, until one day she got into a car crash and fell into a coma - after that, she was given a surgery, which she believed made her an “augmented human” - a person who could make whatever she wanted. She felt somewhat isolated from her peers as a result, but she continued making inventions, even when her most popular ones she deemed failures for making people not live life as if they were still awake.
However, she was one of the 16 targets for the Gofer Project, designed to save the remnants of humanity from a world ending virus by sending them into a spaceship colony. She and the other Ultimates, however, didn’t want to, so they just ignored it - until a cult came after them to try to kill them, at which point they were saved by the Gofer Project and sent to space, where the killing game began.
At this point, the killing game began - and throughout each murder, Miu grew every more paranoid, as her gadgets were used to aid Kaede’s murder plan and her trust was abused time and time again - until she came to the Neo World Program, and found the truth of the outside world, and decided she needed to escape, at any price. And so, she came up with a murder plan to kill Kokichi, to escape from this place - and ultimately she paid the price, being killed by Gonta as a part of Kokichi’s own plans, dead to her own machinations.
Even so, Miu was not forgotten by K1-B0 and the others, despite her own sins, and continued to live on through them. She may have a prideful, cowardly girl - but she was human, just like us all, and tried her best. And isn’t that worth something?
Experience & Skill
Rui Kamishiro
Obviously, Rui doesn't have much fighting experience at all. All he has ever done was practice some combat for stage plays, but nothing much beyond. But his intellect compensates for it. Rui's a smart guy; he was a very intelligent child, and throughout his life, he managed to learn about robotics and stage mechanism all by himself with the help of the internet. This is shown by many of his creations: drones, robots, machines — which will all be elaborated in their respective sections.
Miu Iruma
Miu also has uh, no real skill or experience in a fight, she’s literally never fought once. However, since she was a child, she’s had a brilliance for inventions and has been able to come up with all her ideas without any help, and execute them to perfection, including things like being able to eat and read while sleeping. As well, she’s a good hacker, being able to modify the Neo World Program to suit her needs. In addition, she was able to modify Kiibo, who’s the Ultimate Robot with a very sophisticated design.
Equipment
Rui Kamishiro
Drones
Made for their shows, Rui has a numerous number of drones to help on the performances with lights, smoke, and many other functions. They're extremely fast, too — capable of being piloted at speeds of 40 kilometers per second.
Phone
Aside from being your every smartphone, this is Rui's main method of accessing the Wonderland Sekai — an alternate world created by Tsukasa’s feelings. To do so, you need to click on a specific file on the phone, and it will magically teleport you into it.
Explosive (?)
Rui has some sort of device that had a trigger malfunction, which made it explode. Unintentional, maybe, but it did leave a hole in the ground. He does explosions in like almost every story where he’s shown in Kamikou though.
Plasma Generator
Nothing much to say; it's a plasma generator. The hell is he doing with these?
Wooden Sword
He used a wooden sword; practice for a performance. He's not that bad with it!
Sword
He's shown to have a sword in a 2 star card.
Katana
Hey, he has a katana and he looks soooo fucking cooooool…
Claw Grabber
He's shown to have a claw grabber on his backpack. It can be useful.
Time Machine (Debatable)
Yup.
For some inexplicable reason, Rui managed to build a time machine — allowing him to travel to the past and Interact with past versions of him and his friends. This comes from the Petit Sekai anime shorts, though, which can have a weird situation when it comes to canonicity. For more information, check Before the Verdict.
Pistol
Hey, yeah so like, the event this card’s from was a studying event for AkiAn I don't know why he has this but why not.
Gay Cake
We know what you are.
Robo-Nene
By far the wackiest creation Rui has ever done. For his fellow friend Nene Kusanagi to be able to perform without being present, Rui created “Robo-Nene” (to this day, I don't know how she allowed him to build a robot that looks exactly like her). She's extremely athletic — suited for their shows. She only needs to be charged once every three days. Although she was initially required to be operated by manual control, Rui eventually managed to give her an AI, so she could act without anyone needing to control; an AI so advanced she can feel how others feel. But it doesn't end here. She can fly, shoot flamethrowers out of her mouth, and even fire laser beams that are potent enough to possibly level up the entire Phoenix Wonderland park.
???
How.
Miu Iruma
Drone
A drone Miu has for the purpose of looking around areas to investigate.
Kinda useless other then that, but neat!
Electrohammers
Miu’s memento; weapons Miu made from Kokichi’s request. They're electric hammers that disable any kind of electronic machine on contact; weapons created for the purpose of defeating Monokuma. It should be used with caution, though, as the Electrohammers run out of battery very quickly — and hitting bigger and more powerful robots — like the Exisals — will instantly drain the entire battery of an Electrohammer, and you'll have to wait 24 hours for them to recharge.
Electrobombs
Miu not only created hammers, but something that'd be useful for more range. These are Electrobombs — they “jam” electronic signals by scattering particles that interfere with electromagnetic waves. Any electronic device on a 50 yard radius will be completely deactivated for 2 hours. They also don't cause any debris, so it's perfect for sneaky attacks. If it ends up missing the first time, Kokichi mentions he had three of them, so maybe a second or third try could fix it.
Abilities
Rui Kamishiro
Card Skills
In Project Sekai, character cards possess skills that can aid you in the rhythm game: increasing points, perfect accuracy, restoring health, et cetera. Probably too game mechanic-y, but hey, it exists.
Acausality (Type 1)
He can just chill with his past self. Wth dude

Scaling
Rui Kamishiro
Ensemble Stars!
Ensemble Stars! and Project Sekai have made a collaboration with each other, adding songs and a music video to their respective games. Scaling should be pretty simple, as there's nothing indicating humans from Enstars are notably different in physiology (that'd be whack), and Rui (as well as the other PRSK characters) can keep up well with them on stage.
The RYUSEITAI unit broke crystals… and then JUMPED FROM A PLANET BACK TO EARTH AND RESTORING IT?? (Funny, see Before the Verdict)
Miu Iruma
Other Students
Considering how most of the students in V3 are comparable, with Kokichi being able to an extent to keep up with Maki despite her speed, Miu should scale to their feats.
Kaito was able to intercept a crossbow at point-blank range (Mach 0.47)
Keebo breaks an aquarium’s glass (84 megajoules)
Weaknesses
Rui Kamishiro
Aside from not being a fighter at all, Rui has some personality traits that most consider… weird. He's a big weirdo. He gets way too carried by his — rather eccentric — ideas, is afraid if his ideas are too risky for people, and is a very curious person; who likes to observe with an analyzing look anything that interests him, and would even bring stuff home with him if given the chance.
Also he hates vegetables and refuses to eat them in any meaningful way. If that's based or bad is up to you.
Miu Iruma
Besides not being a fighter, Miu has several weaknesses - her insufferable personality being her strongest one. In addition to that, she’s also a huge coward, who backs down easily at the slightest sign of trouble, and is way too confident in her own intellect, refusing to take criticism for anything.
(Quick) Before The Verdict
Petit Sekai’s Canonicity
It's a weird case, but at least the episodes should be a thing that happens in the Project Sekai story. The series is not explicitly implied, not canon, and fans question if it is canon or not only because it has a few cases of showing weirder, wackier things. Most likely because it's a really short anime focused on comedy. However there’s nothing really implying that it’s not canon either and it doesn’t contradict anything in the main story, so whether you want to use it or not depends, though it doesn’t change the final verdict though.
Using 3DMVs for feats
So, that one Enstars feat. It can be a bit silly to include, considering the MV is more likely than not just a play and it's not literally being done, but it's funny. Yes, that's our whole reason. We're not giving it too much focus, obviously, but it did happen and it's whack.
Where's K1-BO for Miu? Shouldn't he be included?
To put it short, no, not really. It's not that hard to explain. Keebo has his own creator; it's not Miu, and Miu has done nothing but a few upgrades on him — which aren't even the major upgrades he gains on V3’s last chapter. Keebo wouldn't really count as a thing at her disposal.
Verdict
Stats
Physical stats are not hard to figure. On their own, Miu holds a notable advantage in strength. Because Keebo in early chapters was very weak compared to the rest of the cast, Miu should at least somehow scale to the robot, whose glass shattering feat gets over 84 megajoules. This is greatly better than anything Rui has shown, as he's just a common human. Robo-Nene, however, is a different story. If we consider her, Nene states that her beams could — worst case scenario — level up the whole Phoenix Wonderland park. Even without assumptions, it's safe to say that it would be greatly more powerful than whatever Miu could throw and take. So while Miu is the stronger between the two on their own, Rui's machines prove to be significantly greater in power.
Speed is a different story, though. Scaling to Kaito Momota would make Miu scales to barely Mach 0.5. Somewhat good, but not good enough against her opponent — who can operate and control drones who can reach speeds of 40 kilometers per second, which is almost Mach 117. For one to control these at all, Rui would need to have the reaction speed necessary, thus making the scaling good enough (as weird as it sounds). Considering his other machines are either better or comparable, they should somewhat be in the same ballpark, giving Rui the definitive advantage in speed.
Arsenal & Abilities
This is where the debate gets a bit more interesting. When it comes to their arsenal, Rui would initially prove himself to be quite the challenge. He has a phone to teleport, explosives, a plasma generator, a TIME MACHINE, and his greatest robot: Robo-Nene. She can fire flamethrowers and park devastating laser beams, not to mention the capability to fly. Miu would obviously not survive any of this, but there's something quite useful in her arsenal: the Electrohammers and Electrobombs.
The Electrohammers are useful, but she'd need to actually hit Robo-Nene for them to work, which is probably not happening considering the speed gap, but the Electrobombs are a different story. The Electrobombs have a range of 50 yards (almost 46 meters) — and it will disable any sort of technology Rui could use. That, packed with the fact she has three of these, could make it so Rui could have trouble without his technology, where his power advantage was meaningful. Technically speaking, you could argue that Robo-Nene could fly her way out of the radius considering she can reach speeds much more impressive than anything we've seen for Danganronpa V3, but this is getting into assumptions. Can Rui win without any sort of technology at his disposal?
While Development Plan gives Miu plenty of options to paralyze, poison, or confuse — and many others — Rui, it's still important to consider the notable disadvantage in speed Miu has. And luckily for the stage director, he has his own weapons that could help him in combat without needing technology, like his swords or his pistol. If anything, Rui can also use skills to restore health, giving him even more backup.
Overall, Miu could likely shut down Rui's technology — but, if she can't do it in time, it's practically game over; and if she could, Rui has ways to win even without machines or technological equipment, giving him the edge in arsenal and abilities.
Tertiary Factors
This one shouldn't be that hard to figure out. Either have no real experience — and skill — in hand-to-hand combat, so what matters here is the smarts, which Rui takes with no contest. He's much more focused and observant, has created AI so potent they can feel emotions and are capable of flight and energy projection (which is equal, if not superior, to the upgrades Miu could do on Keebo), and somehow managed to create a frickin’ time machine. Miu's intelligence is nothing to scoff at, but is absolutely nothing close to Rui's.
Tbf Miu would likely want to actually, y'know, kill. Lmao
Conclusion
Advantages:
Far more varied arsenal
Has actual weapons, and if his technology was disabled, he could use them instead
Much faster
Robo-Nene just makes him win…
Time, huh? Thanks for the tip.
Technically can BFR with his phone
Generally smarter
Not canonically dead
Disadvantages:
Weaker on his own
…but Miu could likely deactivate his tech
Has no counters to practically everything out of Development Plan
Whatever the fuck the fandom interprets him as (bro is not an abusive cannibal tf)
SEGA and ColoPale hate him (like genuinely all of his focus events but the first one got fucked in ensekai for some reason)
Advantages:
Physically stronger
More willing to kill
Electrobombs would massively screw up Rui’s arsenal…
Development Plan abilities are things Rui has no answers to
Somehow got every culprit right frame 1 (is she her?)
Good trial around her death (depending on opinion)
Disadvantages:
…but she's much slower
Basically everything else
That one sprite. You know the one.
Dead as hell
This match is extremely clear cut, to be blunt. While Miu’s strength and electrobombs could win out a fair few times, Rui’s speed would more likely then not make those not relevant factors, and between his superior range with things like Robo-Nene, explosives, and actual weapons (which would kill Miu, considering her own showings), she would pretty quickly fall before she could do much with her strength advantage. This isn’t even getting into the wide gap in intelligence, and while Miu’s more ruthless nature would help her out, it wouldn’t get her the win.
Miu may have been the ultimate in her field, but ultimately, this wonderland would only be controlled by the true greatest inventor among them.
The winner is Rui Kamishiro.
Final Tally
Rui Kamishiro (3) - door-kun, ishi_yuki, yuu.saku
Miu Iruma (0) - No more horny
