Kevin vs. Gajeel (Ben 10 vs. Fairy Tail)
“I weigh the man, not his title; 'tis not the king's stamp can make the metal better.”
-William Wycherley
Kevin Levin, the mutated menace turned intergalactic ally of Ben 10.
Gajeel Redfox, the Iron Dragon Slayer of the Fairy Tail guild.
Rivalries can run strong and persist with enough hatred and grudge, but even the most intense rivalries cannot compete with the circumstances of the greater good. Teaming up with their now former rivals, these two specialize in manipulating their bodies to take the form of the metals around them. However, when Kevin 11 meets the Black Steel of the Fairy Tail guild, will Kevin’s car get eaten again as he fails? Or will Gajeel fail to keep up? Let’s find out in this DEATH BATTLE!
Before We Start…
For Kevin, we’ll be using the four original Ben 10 shows and all the adjacent material to them, such as the Generator Rex and The Secret Saturdays shows, TV show trivia, crew statements, etc. As for Gajeel, we’ll be using both the original Fairy Tail manga, its various spinoffs and side materials, and the anime adaptation, as well as anime filler - however, we will be ignoring the Eclipse Celestial Spirits arc. It’s a major outlier to what we’ve seen of characters in the past and would be unfair to include without giving equal leeway to similarly dubious stuff from Kevin.
Much of the calcs for Fairy Tail were done on G1’s Erza vs. Satsuki blog, so shoutouts to them. Same for the Ben 10 calcs and Bang’s Atom Eve vs. Gwen Tennyson blog.
Background
Kevin Levin
“Gwen, you have to treat a car like you treat a woman.”
Across the vast expanse of the universe, there exists all kinds of living creatures. You could find walking fires and ghoulish specters in one place, then encounter little green feeders and superintelligent frogs in another. Look around the corner and you could even meet literal gods! The possibilities are endless; there’s room for every life form imaginable. But there was one wayward drifter who struggled to find his place in the universe. From runaway kid to child soldier and conman to lawman, Kevin Ethan Levin has been many things throughout his life. His tumultuous journey started at a very young age. Kevin was born with latent absorption abilities, which caused him to be shunned by his peers and family. He began to see himself as a freak of nature, a thought that fully peaked when his powers went out of control and destroyed his parents’ home. Coupled with his (implied to be abusive) father dying and his mother remarrying, the young Kevin couldn’t handle his unfortunate circumstances and ran away from home, ultimately leaving everything behind.
Now on the run, Kevin turned to a life of petty crime, stealing to get by. He eventually ended up in New York City, where he settled in an abandoned subway and continued to use his abilities to commit crimes; this caused Kevin’s mental state to deteriorate over time. But at 11 years old (because of course it’s 11), his life would change once again when he encountered Benjamin Tennyson, better known as Ben 10: kid hero with an arsenal of alien transformations. While they got along at first, Ben quickly realized how ruthless and psychotic Kevin would act towards others. They became fierce enemies, and their rivalry escalated when Kevin absorbed energy from the Omnitrix, the mysterious device Ben uses to transform. This enabled him to access Ben’s alien transformations for himself. However, everything—from his life on the streets to his psychotic nature from everyone “betraying” him—drove him over the edge. In his mind, anyone could and would take a chance to hurt him. And so, his rage drove his powers out of control once again, and the alien DNA he absorbed from Ben mutated him into an amalgamation of all his transformations. Thus, Kevin 11 was born.
Kevin was dangerous before, but Kevin 11 was a nightmare come to life. Now transformed beyond recognition, Kevin had truly become the freak he thought himself to be. Worse, his powers ran so rampant that he couldn’t return to his normal form. More insane than ever before, Kevin blamed Ben for all his problems and swore to kill him by any means. Kevin would hunt down Ben and his family across America, doing whatever he could to hurt Ben just to get even with him. He even teamed up with the deadly galactic conqueror Vilgax just to have a shot at getting the Omnitrix, and subsequently Ben. Unfortunately for them, Ben and his family were one step ahead, and they managed to trap Kevin and Vilgax in the Null Void, an alternate dimension used to imprison galactic criminals. While in the Null Void, Kevin would be taken to a prison called the Null Void Incarcecon. Here, he met Kwarrel, an inmate who somehow knew about Kevin’s powers. Miraculously, Kwarrel was able to reach out to Kevin and help him with his emotional turmoil. He even taught Kevin how to control his rage, allowing him to revert from his Kevin 11 mutation. As it turned out, absorbing energy was dangerous for Kevin’s mental state, so Kwarrel taught him how to absorb matter and morph his body instead. Forming a strong bond, they planned to leave the prison together. Sadly, during an attempted getaway, Kwarrel would give his life to help Kevin make his escape. Now with newfound techniques and another chip on his shoulder, Kevin would venture through the Null Void on his own for around a year.
Of course, being stranded in a dimension full of dangerous creatures and criminals meant Kevin wouldn’t get far on his own. Luckily, he eventually encountered the Rooters, a group of people who were conducting research in the Null Void and just so happened to be in the area. They took in Kevin, along with some other kids, and helped them “adjust” to life in the Null Void, all the while preparing them for a “coming storm.” However, they seemed to mysteriously vanish one day, leaving Kevin to fend for himself once again. Weirdly, Kevin would completely forget about the Rooters after encountering them. Strange… But weird experiences aside, he did manage to make a new friend out of the situation: Argit, a rat-like alien turned conman. Together, they eventually managed to escape the Null Void and became partners in crime, taking on various shady jobs and deals to earn money and resources. After a while, they would go their separate ways.
Fast forward four years, and Kevin’s life actually ended up relatively stable. He started making money through dealing with and reselling alien weapons, giving him extensive knowledge on advanced technology. He would also become a gearhead, devoting his free time to working on a new car. Finally, Kevin had managed to figure everything out. But things took a turn yet again when one of Kevin’s weapon deals was interrupted by none other than Ben Tennyson, now older and sporting an updated model of the Omnitrix, complete with new transformations. Rekindling their rivalry, the two made use of their new powers to do battle once again, with Ben emerging as the victor. But unexpectedly, Kevin wasn’t as bitter towards Ben as before. His experiences in the Null Void left him more mature and mellowed out, and the sacrifice of one of Ben’s allies inspired him to turn his situation around. He even offered to help Ben track down the alien weaponry he failed to sell. Thus began an unlikely teamup of the ages, with Kevin joining Ben and his cousin Gwen, along with various other allies to solve problems around their hometown of Bellwood.
Although Kevin sabotaged the team more than once due to old ties to his criminal past, he would work to rectify his mistakes and make himself an indispensable part of the trio of heroes. Together, they would go on many adventures, saving the day while finding new revelations about themselves—along with getting Kevin’s car wrecked almost every day. Their achievements began to pile up: they ended the Highbreed invasion, stopped Vilgax from conquering the world several times, defeated the extradimensional Dagon, and became part of the Plumbers—a secret organization that deals with extraterrestrial threats—like Kevin’s father before them. He even got together with Gwen and learned more about his family’s history. Turns out, Kevin is half-Osmosian, an alien species with the ability to absorb anything, explaining where his powers come from. Kevin would face his alien heritage in full, tracking down Ragnarok—his father’s killer—and fighting against Aggregor, an Osmosian hellbent on obtaining omnipotent power. In an effort to stop Aggregor’s plans, Kevin absorbed Ben’s powers, mutating himself and losing his sanity once again. He would go on a rampage, targeting anyone who ever wronged him in his life, forcing Ben and Gwen to stop him. Ben actually would have killed him had Gwen and their allies not found a way to restore Kevin’s body and mind. Despite Kevin’s actions, he was ultimately welcomed back onto the team, and their adventures continued once more.
After some time, Kevin would leave Bellwood with Gwen since the latter wanted to attend a prestigious college. Kevin found work as a mechanic at a garage, but would return to Bellwood every now and then to help Ben with saving the world. Life had become repetitive for the young Osmosian, and everything seemed to be settling down for the most part. But yet again, Kevin would face another life-changing revelation in his life. Proctor Servantis, leader of the Rooters (remember them?), appeared and restored certain parts of Kevin’s memories. Turns out, many parts of Kevin’s life were fake memories created by Servantis. Kevin’s powers? The result of a genetic mutation. Osmosians? A collective term for mutants, rather than an alien race. Kevin’s Plumber father? Never existed; instead, his father was just some abusive bum. Destroying his family’s house and running away? Never happened; he was just trying to escape his abusive father. Aggregor? Just another guy whose memories got altered by Servantis. But most horrifically, Kevin remembered his time in the Null Void. When the Rooters found him, they did more than take him in; they used him as the catalyst for their research.
The Rooters were revealed to be a black ops division of the Plumbers who was conducting illegal experiments in the Null Void, led by Proctor Servantis as he prepared for war against the one and only Ben Tennyson. In Servantis’s eyes, Ben was incredibly dangerous as the wielder of the Omnitrix, as he possessed enough power to wipe out the universe if he really wanted to. Therefore, Servantis dubbed him the universe’s “coming storm”. In order to rid the universe of this “threat”, Servantis used Kevin’s absorption abilities to turn himself and a group of kidnapped children into alien hybrids. Servantis then mind controlled the group and trained them to become the ultimate soldiers (and keep in mind Kevin was 12 years old at the time). Kevin was assigned to be the leader of this Ben 10 hitsquad, but they ultimately lost against the shapeshifting hero. As a result, Servantis called off the experiments and wiped the Rooters’ memories, hence why Kevin couldn’t remember them beforehand. However, thanks to Ben’s heroics in the present day, Servantis assembled and controlled the hitsquad once again, and he coaxed Kevin into rejoining him as well. And to everyone’s shock, Kevin agreed. He even mutated himself and went insane again to destroy Ben once and for all. Except, Kevin, ever since meeting Servantis again, had gained control over his mutated state and faked his insanity. He only pretended to betray the heroes to get close to Servantis to break his control over the alien hybrids and ultimately defeat him. And with that, Kevin had finally put his past behind him. To say Kevin’s life was a mess up to this point would be an understatement. Since the beginning, Kevin has been on the move, taking every job and deal under the sun. He’s the kind of guy to fly across the galaxy to save his friend’s life and also marry an alien princess to get an engine block of all things; as Kevin himself puts it, he's just really nuanced. But through it all, Kevin made the most of his circumstances, becoming something more. After searching for so long, Kevin found his place as a Plumber, a friend, and ultimately, a hero.
Gajeel Redfox
*
”I'm a Fairy Tail Wizard now. Even if you beat me up now, my heart won't break that easily.”
So, stop me if you’ve heard this one before; a former antagonist was a part of a group that had beef with the main character's group. They fought the main guy and lost, then decided to join the protagonist’s group and become rivals with them. This was our first introduction to the Iron Dragon Slayer, Gajeel Redfox, but there’s more to his story. Born 400 years ago along with other First Generation Dragon Slayers like Natsu Dragneel and Wendy Marvell, Gajeel was raised by Metalicana, the Iron Dragon. Trained in the ways of Dragon Slayer Magic, Gajeel would frequently fight with his fellow Dragon Slayer, Natsu, roughhousing as kids do. But unbeknownst to Gajeel and the other kids, their draconic parents had great roles to play in defeating Acnologia, the Black Dragon of the Apocalypse, once and for all.
Housing himself within Gajeel to protect him from the Dragonization process that all Dragon Slayers faced, Metalicana and the other dragons would send the children 400 years into the future to gain strength in the new era and prepare themselves for Acnologia’s return, but at the cost of their childhood memories. Waking up alone, seemingly abandoned by his father, Gajeel struck out on his own, not knowing the truth about what happened to Metalicana and the other Dragons. Eventually, Gajeel would join the Phantom Lord guild as he grew up, and became a notorious troublemaker, being brought before the Magic Council and reprimanded for his actions. However, one council member, Belno, saw more in Gajeel than he did in himself. Reminding her of her dead son, she asked him to leave Phantom Lord and seek a life worth living; words which stuck with him.
During the war between Phantom Lord and the Fairy Tail guild, Gajeel would once more come face to face with Natsu, not that either remembered each other, and though he put up a great fight, he eventually was defeated. Natsu’s strength, bonds of friendship, similar pasts they bonded over, and the dissolution of Phantom Lord all made Gajeel think once more about what he wanted in life, and after being confronted by Fairy Tail’s Guild Master, Makarov Dreyar, he took an opportunity that would forever change his life for the better. To make amends for his actions, especially his attack on Team Shadow Gear, Gajeel became an official Fairy Tail mage, and he started to change.
Gajeel, for his part, didn’t exactly like the rest of the guild much either. In his mind, he was simply in it for the job; nothing more. Said job’s first mission for him wasn’t exactly a safe one, either - he was sent to spy on the Raven Tail guild to keep tabs on what they wanted. However, his former guildmates gave him some encouragement to try to open up to the Fairy Tail guild and to be more friendly. While Gajeel wasn’t the… fondest of this at first, he ultimately lightened up to the rest of the guild, and even helped his long-time rival Natsu defeat Laxus by using himself as a lightning rod.
Continuing on adventures with the Fairy Tail guild, Gajeel found himself becoming more and more entrenched in their way of life. It was like one big family, and they’d come to accept him, even after all he’d done. He’d even find himself an Exceed partner like Natsu and Wendy in the form of Panther Lily, the Captain of Edolas’ Royal Army. More than friendship and family though, he’d eventually find love, too.
Levy McGarden was the leader of Team Shadow Gear, a Solid Script mage of Fairy Tail, and had some brief interactions with Gajeel when he saved her during Laxus’ rebellion, but their relationship really started to take form during the S-Class Mage Promotion Trial on Tenrou Island, when he offered to help her become stronger in spite of her self-doubt. They’d fight together and protect each other, both as proud members of the Fairy Tail guild, and thanks to her, he’d push past his injuries to defeat anyone who would attack her.
Joining the rest of the Fairy Tail guild to defend their island against Acnologia, everyone would be transported seven years into the future, where the power hierarchy of the guilds of Earth Land had all changed. To reclaim Fairy Tail’s place as the number one guild in Fiore, they’d all take part in the Grand Magic Games, training like never before to surpass their limits. Alongside Laxus, Mirajane, Juvia, and Jellal in disguise as Mystogan, Gajeel would be part of Team B. He’d face the Sabretooth guild’s own Dragon Slayers, Sting and Rogue, alongside Natsu, and later faced Rogue on his own, eating his shadows to take on his Iron Shadow Dragon Mode before defeating him, opening the opposing mage’s eyes to treasure the friendships he already has, like what had been done for him.
Afterwards, Gajeel would join in the fight against the time-displaced dragons and Atlas Flame, as well as properly make up with Rogue, who’d had a troublesome experience due to his future counterpart. Not long after, the Dark Guild Tartaros would begin to make their moves, thought to be in possession of the dark mage Zeref’s strongest demon, E.N.D.. Uncovering that Tartaros had targeted members of the Magic Council, Gajeel set out to try and save Belno, the woman who had believed in him and opened his eyes to the possibilities that lay before him, but he was too late, and she had unfortunately already passed away. Thankfully, Levy was able to uncover their location before Tartaros could get the drop on them, and Gajeel was able to fight off their demons alongside Natsu, but when Torafuzar threatened to drown them all, Levy was able to give Gajeel the air he needed to win the fight, mouth to mouth. Aww yeah Gavejy time.
Revitalized, Gajeel was able to take in the carbon surrounding him to create his Steel Dragon’s Sword, and defeat the demon in Belno’s name, knowing that he’d found people he cared about and wanted to protect with his life, and that was what gave his life meaning. Not long after, the plan the dragons had put into motion started to all slot into place. Acnologia was encroaching upon Tartaros, and the dragons emerged at last to face him. Natsu’s foster father, Igneel, dealt severe damage to the dragon and forced him to retreat, but at the cost of his own life. A truly sad loss, but all of the dragons got one final chance to tearfully talk with their children after destroying the magic-killing Face Bombs, and before they would finally pass on to the afterlife. It was a somber affair, but it gave Gajeel peace and closure, finally able to move on from his father’s death with Levy by his side.
Soon after, Gajeel would be recruited into the Magic Council alongside Levy as part of the Custody Enforcement Unit, playing an instrumental role in taking down the black magic cult Avatar. He held this position for over a year and was surprisingly great in the role, arresting criminals and enforcing the law, but Fairy Tail was his home, and he couldn’t abandon that.
Eventually, war would come knocking at their door. Makarov had been abducted by the Alvarez Empire, and Fairy Tail would fight tooth and nail to right their injustices, and get him back. Reforming the B-Team, Gajeel and the Dragon Slayers took down the army of Ajeel, of the Alvarez Empire’s Spriggan 12, among many others. The situation also gave Gajeel and Levy the opportunity to grow even closer, fighting together against Bloodman of the Spriggan 12. With the love of their lives on the line, Gajeel was able to strike the fatal blow, but was nearly killed in the process. Able to save Levy from the same fate, Gajeel thanked her for everything she’d done for him, including teaching him how to love. He wanted nothing more than to walk side-by-side with her forever, and a future without her was the most terrifying thing he's had to face.
Saying his final goodbyes, Gajeel was prepared to fade away with the knowledge that Levy would be safe and survive, but fortunately, Irene Belserion’s Universe One magic reshaped Fiore and saved him just in the nick of time. Returning to the battlefield to save Levy and bring her back to the guild safe and sound, as he promised, he kept her safe throughout the entire war, never letting up for a moment with the woman he loved on the line.
As the war drew to a close, and all the Dragon Slayers joined together to finally kill Acnologia once and for all, Gajeel was able to live a happy life with Levy in peace. He would once again take up the fight against wayward dragons in a 100-Year Quest, but more important than anything to him was his new role. He had been a scoundrel, rebel, guild member, friend, council member, war hero, and legend, but now with Levy, he could be something new; something he could be more proud of than anything else. Now, with his own family, he was a lover, partner, and father. And like a true Wizard of the Fairy Tail guild, there’s nothing Gajeel wouldn’t do to protect his family.
Experience & Skill
Kevin
Having been traveling on his own from a young age, Kevin has accumulated experience from all kinds of places. As a kid, he learned how to live on the streets and use his powers to break machines and steal things. After encountering Ben, he took his crime streak to another level, using his mutated alien powers to take out anyone in his way. His time in the Null Void saw him training his powers further under Kwarrel, letting him absorb matter, along with surviving the general harshness of the extra dimensional prison. After escaping the Null Void, Kevin would become well versed in all things technology—namely cars and alien weapons—which he would use as a means to make money through illegal weapon dealings. He also received training as a Plumber, improving his fighting and tactical prowesses.
Kevin has been living on the streets since he was at least 11, and ever since has encountered and fought his way through several dangerous situations and enemies. Despite his little to no formal education, he is easily one of the smartest and most knowledgeable characters in the series, especially when it comes to alien matters, having extensive knowledge of species, their abilities, how their societies work, etc. He’s also extremely technologically smart, specializing in mechanics, but his knowledge also extends to weapons and technology from all around the universe. His expertise in mechanics also shows itself in his ability to drive and pilot various cars and ships. He frequently gets into space dog fights and runs from several aliens with just his car. His intelligence also goes into his analytical and deductive skill, with Grandpa Max even complimenting him and saying he’d make a great detective. He’s also fought all sorts of characters and aliens with wildly different powers and abilities, making him a pretty adaptable fighter.
Gajeel
Being taught Iron Dragon Slayer Magic by the Iron Dragon himself, Gajeel is a highly proficient mage with a large selection of techniques. While his magic is finite, he can always replenish it by consuming the element he wields (in this case, metal). Additionally, eating their respective element has also shown to be able to heal the user. Even without the use of magic though, his physical prowess is still very impressive. Gajeel is an expert in hand-to-hand combat, with a fighting style that focuses on brutal, direct hits including punches, kicks, and even headbutts, made all the more devastating by his brute strength. His lightning fast speed and reflexes also allow him to barrage his opponent with attacks in quick succession, making his attacks both hard to block and hard to dodge.
Gajeel has consistently fought evenly with experienced opponents like Panther Lily, the Commander of the Royal Edolas Army, and Midnight, Guild Master of the Reborn Oración Seis. He defeated and killed Bloodman of the Spriggan 12, the greatest army in all of Earth Land, and fought the Dark Dragon, even after sustaining heavy, full-body injuries prior to the fight.
Additionally, he’s shown to have incredibly high pain tolerance, being able to survive several beatings, getting electrocuted by Laxus (including attacks that were stated to be strong enough to kill Natsu Dragneel), and even being impaled multiple times by Aldoron’s wooden thorns and not even passing out. Outside of combat, Gajeel has also shown to have strong senses of smell and hearing, using the former to track down Lucy after she escaped from Jose and managing to hear conversations from underneath the Fairy Tail guild.
Equipment
Kevin
Car
Kevin's signature car, one of the most iconic traits of his character. This car has survived many, many beatings over the course of the series. Kevin has had two notable variations of his car; the one we see throughout the entirety of UAF, and in Omniverse up until the episode ‘OTTO Motives’. In that episode, Kevin's car gets destroyed and he decides to build an entirely new car (pictured above) from the remnants of the old one. While they are technically different cars, Kevin's current car should have most, if not all, of the same features as the old one due to being built from the remnants of said old car and in general just being a better version of it.
The original car has a plethora of features, being equipped with all sorts of alien tech that he picks up on his adventures with Ben. It has a built in AI allowing for auto-pilot and an auto-attack mode, and a tachyon transceiver to pick up FTL transmissions. He has a remote that calls the car to wherever Kevin is. The car is outfitted with several guns and missiles, as well as various other abilities such as electric force fields, a magno-winch to move heavy objects, a universal translator, spray dust, laser blast deflectors, a parachute, ejector seats, invisibility mode, automatic transmission, capable of picking up energy signatures, and a digital panel for Kevin to control all the various parts of his car manually. The car is known for surviving various beatings, many of which it’s capable of surviving due to having a Khoros-5 Engine Block, which is cited to be the best in the galaxy by Rook. Khoros-5 Engine Blocks are made from “infinitum”, a virtually indestructible metal. In the “Ben 10: Alien Force” video game, Kevin's car is upgraded with a Kineceleran drive unit, which gives it 50% more power, and a tracking device for alien tech. While never shown, it is implied to be submersible as Kevin has been said to be working on making it such.
HIs new car should have most, if not all of these same features. Inspired by the numerous beatings it constantly takes, Kevin has made his new car “everything-proof”. It is Talpaeden impact resistant, has Amperi electrical insulation, is coated with Pyronite wax to protect it from extreme temperatures, has Orishan glass to travel through different atmospheres, is fire-proof, waterproof, bullet-proof, acid-proof, and explosion proof. The only thing it isn’t is magic-proof.
Taydenite Car
After helping Gar of the Tetramands with grand theft auto (not that one), Kevin received his prized taydenite car as a gift. This vehicle is made of solid Tetramand taydenite, making it one of the most durable and valuable items in the universe. Aside from basically making Kevin a billionaire, it also provides him a steady supply of taydenite.
Taydenite is one of the most durable gems in the known universe. It’s described as being practically indestructible to the point that it can pierce through infinitum, a metal that is also described as indestructible.
Rustbucket 3
Kevin’s technical expertise goes beyond cars and alien tech. The Rustbucket 3 is a Plumber ship modified by Kevin sporting all kinds of advanced technology. Its appearance has changed a couple times as it’s been destroyed and repaired, but it contains plenty of features. The RB3’s computers have full extranet access and are compatible with Plumber Badges, allowing it to access any computer database in the galaxy, no matter how secure. It has an autopilot feature, and can be used as a submarine and spaceship, along with just a normal jet-plane. It’s also fitted out with several different types of guns and missiles.
Plumber Badge
Received from the deceased Magister Labrid, the plumber badge is a standard issue device provided to plumbers, serving as both their badge and insignia.
It possesses many features including a holographic map, communication with other plumber badges, a universal translator, radiation detection, access to the extranet (an intergalactic internet), and can be used to activate and deactivate special codes on Plumbers ships. They also possess the ability of overriding, enhancing and merging with other pieces of technology. They also have a self-destruct feature.
Miscellaneous Items
Taydenite
Taydenite is the hardest material in the galaxy, second to none. It’s stated several times to be impenetrable, and has only shown to be damaged by itself. Naturally, Kevin regularly keeps a piece of Taydenite in his holsters at all times for him to absorb when he needs a little extra power, and even has a piece in a box in his car's trunk.
Metal Blade
A blade of unknown metal that Kevin carries in his pocket to absorb.
Loose Change
Loose change Kevin has in his pocket to (you guessed it) absorb.
Binoculars
A pair of handy binoculars Kevin has, they can…. be binoculars
Laser Cannon
Kevin claims to have a laser cannon in the back of his car, although it is never actually seen, and Gwen does tell him to “stop joking around”. So it’s questionable whether he actually has it, but considering he was fidgeting with something in his trunk and it wouldn’t be out of character, we’re gonna list it here.
Ice / Net Gun
A gun Kevin used while sparring with Fasttrack. Can fire both nets and ice projectiles.
Retrieval Beacon Generator
So, when Ben got his arm spatially cut off and stranded in the Null Void, Kevin just… had a gun that was capable of re-attaching the hand while it was lost in the Null Void. Convenient.
Energy Cuffs
Energy Cuffs are standard Plumber gear, restraining criminals in a blue energy difficult to break out of. They also deactivate one's powers, and prevent them from being teleported.
Ultimate Tech Blaster
The “Ultimate Tech Blaster” is a beam rifle that Kevin picked up off of a dead Forever Knight while fighting the Esoterica and enhanced with his Plumber Badge. What exactly the plumber badge did is unknown, and all the gun has shown to do is fire out standard energy blasts.
Plumber Suit
While he doesn’t wear it often, Kevin does have a standard Plumber suit that he’s used on several missions. Kevin's suit should be the same as every other Plumber suit, which provides some small level of armor, and allows the wearer to survive deep underwater. They’re made of a special material that allows it to perfectly fit the user, and all have standard issue rocket boots. However, due to the suit being full body, it prevents Kevin from using his absorption powers while wearing it. To counter this, he’s modified his to be able to deliver electrical shocks.
First-Aid Kit
A plumber first-aid kit Kevin has on the Rustbucket 3, which contains a universal anti-poison serum.
Gajeel
Celestial Spirit Banishment Key
During the Anime-exclusive Eclipse Celestial Spirits Arc, Gajeel had access to the Celestial Spirit Banishment Keys, which are gate keys created by Hisui E. Fiore that can force the 12 Eclipsed Golden Gates to close.
Abilities
Kevin
Osmosian Physiology
Kevin is an Osmosian, a type of mutant human who possesses superhuman abilities, pretty much like the X-Men. Kevin’s power is absorption: by making physical contact with objects, including energy, Kevin can absorb their properties and change his own body. He can absorb the attributes of almost any object or type of energy. Servantis once described Kevin’s powers as “one-in-a-trillion”.
Originally, Osmosians were believed to be an alien race with absorption abilities and that Kevin was half-alien. However, this turned out to be a horrendously confusing retcon a set of false memories implanted by Servantis after the Rooters’ failure to kill Ben.
Energy Absorption
True to his Osmosian heritage, Kevin can absorb any form of energy, such as electricity, mana (life force energy), and even memories via Servantis’s Loyalty Neuro-Matrix. He describes himself as an energy sponge, capable of absorbing energy from pretty much anything before releasing it. The results of this depend on how much energy Kevin outputs, ranging from just powering on machines to short circuiting devices and even firing bolts of electricity from his hands.
DNA Absorption
Kevin is able to absorb DNA, as proven in his first episode appearance. He can absorb the DNA of other beings either via direct touch (as seen above) or through absorbing the energy of devices like the Omnitrix. When absorbing DNA he gains the traits and attributes of the DNA source, including powers. He’s also shown to be able to modify and gain new abilities from the DNA donators, such as growing an extra arm when he absorbs Four Arms.
Matter Absorption
As a substitute for his energy absorption, and to prevent him from going insane, Kevin learned how to absorb matter. He is able to transform his body into any non-organic material he is in direct contact with, such as stone and metal. Anything he absorbs, he takes on the physical properties of, such as the strength of steel or the elasticity of rubber. While inconsistent, his strength is shown to be directly proportional to the strength of the material, so a wood based armor would be weaker than a metal one, for example. He can control the speed of his absorption, ranging from slow morphs to almost instant transformations. He can also choose to transform only parts of his body. While his durability does increase when absorbing a substance, he claims that it still hurts even if his armor isn’t being physically damaged. A list of materials we've seen him absorb are as such:
Wood
Stone
Steel
Rubber
Infintium
Gold
Taydenite
Shapeshifting
While on his third Omnitrix mutation, Kevin learned how to shapeshift his body into tools and weapons. He held this ability even after he was cured of said mutation, and it eventually became one of his most notable powers.
Using his shapeshifting, he can mold his body into various weapons, such as swords, hammers, maces, hooks, shears, etc. He can create constructs like spikes across his whole body or make smaller ones like keys for more precision. He’s capable of manipulating his body without necessarily turning it into something, such as bulking himself up or growing his body parts in size. He’s able to morph his body parts together and stretch his limbs like Mr. Fantastic. He can also morph specific body parts without changing his entire body.
Matter Manipulation
As a seeming byproduct of his matter absorption, Kevin is also able to manipulate material to an extent as well. He’s able to freely mold the original material he’s absorbing.
Matter Transference
Kevin can encase others in his currently absorbed material. If he doesn’t have a lot on hand, he has to unmorph himself to use this ability.
Matter Generation
Kevin is capable of creating the very matter he absorbs in a variety of ways, such as creating objects, generating liquid versions of the material, and just generating it seemingly endlessly.
Regeneration
Kevin is capable of regenerating parts of his body when transformed, such as his hand.
Resistances
Possession: While mutated in Alien Force, Kevin was able to resist an Ectonurite possessing him. This is likely due to his mutation altering his DNA, as Zs’Skayr was unable to possess Ben’s alien forms (and Ben’s transformations are a mixture of human and alien DNA) but could possess Ben as a human. While this means Kevin lacks this resistance in base form, he should regain it by absorbing outside sources of DNA.
Transmutation/Biology Manipulation: While mutated, Kevin resists Ectonurite possession, which turns people into another Ectonurite. He and Ben have also been submerged in the Codon Stream without issue, which normally mutates living things like Vilgax with its bio-energy. Similarly, Ben is immune to the effects of corrodium while in alien form, which mutates anything in its vicinity without special protection. He’s also immune to Dr. Animo’s mutant ray, which uses the Omnitrix’s faceplate to mutate living creatures with alien DNA. Similar to his possession resistance, Kevin should gain this resistance via DNA absorption.
Mind Control/Reading: Kevin resisted Ectonurite possession (oh baby a triple), which normally turns the victim into a mindless slave of the original Ectonurite. Kevin could block out the mind control of a Lucubra and the Dagon after covering his head in iron. He also resisted both mind control and reading from Servantis. Additionally, Ben has shown that mind control can be resisted through willpower.
Radiation: By absorbing certain materials such as metal or carbon rods, Kevin can protect himself against Prypiatosian-Bs, which passively emit and attack with radiation.
Extreme Temperatures: Some materials allow Kevin to survive the cold half of the planet Mikd’lty, which can reach -320°F.
Time Acceleration: When absorbing materials that take a very long time to age such as stone or diamonds, Kevin is unaffected by Eon’s time rays, which rapidly age their targets by hundreds of years.
Gajeel
Iron Dragon Slayer Magic
Taught to Gajeel by Metalicana, Iron Dragon Slayer Magic is a type of dragon slayer magic that lets the user manipulate and utilize iron. It allows Gajeel to turn his body into iron, making various weapons and being able to extend it, giving him a high area of effect. Through eating iron, Gajeel regains strength and magical energy, and his teeth are naturally strong enough to gnaw through it, and other metals. During the Edolas Arc, Gajeel was able to eat the magic-canceling metal of the Dorma Anim. Gajeel is also able to turn his iron into steel, should there be carbon nearby for him to absorb, and this alters the composition of his spells. The process is however harmful to his body.
Iron Dragon’s Roar
Gajeel gathers magic into his mouth and blows a powerful gust of iron shards that can shred opponents, if not dealing blunt damage from the sheer force of it.
Iron Dragon’s Lance
Gajeel turns his limbs into giant iron poles and extends them at his opponent, often whipping them around for crowd control.
Iron Dragon’s Lance: Demon Logs
A variant of Iron Dragon’s Lance in which Gajeel fires multiple smaller spears from his hand.
Iron Dragon’s Scales
Gajeel covers his body in metal scales, amping up his offense and defense. These scales are resistant to flames, can create gusts of wind with sheer kinetic force, and are able to completely cover his body, including his hair and clothes.
Iron Dragon’s Club
Gajeel turns one of his limbs into an iron club, extending and strengthening his punches and kicks. He can also form multiple smaller clubs from his limb for hitting multiple targets. Additionally, Gajeel can detach these clubs from his body and use them as melee weapons.
Iron Dragon’s Sword
Gajeel can turn one of his limbs into a jagged iron blade. This technique is similar to Iron Dragon’s Club but with emphasis on slashing as opposed to blunt force.
It can also be extended to hit foes from farther away or used as a chainsaw, making it even deadlier.
Steel Dragon’s Sword
A stronger version of Iron Dragon’s Sword that can pierce through stronger defenses. This move requires Gajeel to eat carbon so he can turn his body into steel before he can use it.
Iron Dragon’s Kunai
Gajeel creates small kunai that he can throw with pinpoint accuracy.
Iron Dragon’s Foot Blade
Gajeel creates a small blade on the soles of his feet. This can be used to walk on walls and even the ceiling.
Iron Dragon’s Hard Fist
Gajeel punches his opponent while powered up by Iron Dragon’s Scales, allowing him to hit harder.
Iron Dragon’s Mallet
THAT’S IT I’M GETTIN’ ME MALLET!
Gajeel turns both of his hands into mallets, which are strong enough to send monsters flying.
Iron Dragon’s Pickaxe
He turns his hands into a pickaxe. He’s only ever used it for climbing mountains and digging, as opposed to combat.
Iron Dragon’s Shovel
He do have a shovel in his hands
Iron Dragon’s Spiked Club
Gajeel turns his leg into a spiked club before kicking his opponent in the face.
Dragon Slayer’s Secret Art: Karma Demon: Iron God Sword
Gajeel’s first ultimate spell, in which Gajeel claps his hands over his head and forms an extremely long iron sword, swinging it down with enough force to damage a large surrounding area.
Dragon Slayer’s Secret Art: Karma Demon: Iron Spiral
Gajeel’s second ultimate spell, in which Gajeel turns his legs into a drill and spins rapidly, severely piercing through his opponent.
Resistances
Biological Manipulation: Dragon Slayers like Gajeel have antibodies that prevent their appearance and organs from turning into that of a dragon’s.
Soul Manipulation: Natsu, Lucy and Happy were able to resist Franmalth's soul removal with their strength of will, and Gajeel is more than comparable.
Forms
Kevin
Kevin 11
Kevin’s first and most iconic mutation, after his first scuffle with Ben, he was defeated by the Omnitrix’s feedback pulse. Unintentionally absorbing all that energy, Kevin soon found he could transform into all of Ben’s aliens at the time. Blaming Ben for his condition, he swore revenge by going on crime sprees in different cities while as an alien to frame Ben as a criminal. After a one on one confrontation with Ben, Kevin’s mutation became more unstable turning him into a mishmash of extraterrestrial DNA.

2nd Mutation
Is this TMNT cause you can call this the Next Mutation-
Kevin’s most short-lived mutation that he turned into while on a mission for the Rooters. It’s composed of the aliens Ben obtained later on in the original series, though because it only had one appearance, Kevin never got to show its full capabilities.
Biological components:
Arburian Pelarota (Cannonbolt)

Alien Force Mutation
Kevin’s third mutation he gets after he and Ben fuck with the Omnitrix attempting to get Master Control. Instead of being made of several aliens, he instead morphed with various materials. It was in this state that he attained his signature shapeshifting abilities.
Ultimate Kevin
In an attempt to defeat Ultimate Aggregor, Kevin absorbed all of the aliens out of the UAF Omnitrix, including their Ultimate Forms. He went on to absorb all of Ultimate Agreggor’s abilities, which accidentally ended up causing him to go crazy. After going crazy, Kevin went around to “settle scores”, which ended in him absorbing the abilities of several others such as Alan Albright. It could very likely be considered Kevins most powerful mutation.

Transylian (Ben-Viktor/Frankenstrike)
Omniverse Mutation
His last and most recent mutation, absorbing Ben's Omniverse Omnitrix to trick him into thinking he properly went insane again. However, due to Servantis’s neural shocks, he was able to keep his mind and shift out of the form. It appears for only a few minutes of episode time, so doesn’t have too many exact showings. This is the only mutation you could argue being standard, but more on that later.
Biological Components:
Gimlinopithecus (Shocksquatch)
Segmentasapien (Bloxx)

Gajeel
Iron Shadow Dragon Mode
During a fight with Rogue Cheney, Gajeel consumed Rogue’s shadow magic and used it to enhance his own Iron Dragon Slayer Magic. This not only strengthens his physical and magical power but also grants him the ability to turn intangible by turning his body into a shadow.
In this form, he can also use enhanced versions of some of his magic spells, including:
Iron Shadow Dragon’s Roar
A shadow-augmented Iron Dragon’s Roar that creates a larger and far more destructive blast.
Iron Shadow Dragon’s Club
A stronger variant of Iron Dragon’s Club augmented by swirling shadow magic.
Iron Shadow Dragon’s Iron Slash
Gajeel forms his arm into a shadow-enhanced blade and charges at his opponent with it.

Scaling
Kevin
Ben
From sworn enemies to best friends, Ben and Kevin have scrapped several times. Kevin scaling to most of Ben's aliens is obviously a no-brainer, although due to the fluctuation of power in Ben's transformations, there are some who are too powerful for even Kevin 11. Alien X (obviously), Way Big, Atomix, and Feedback (at his peak) are Ben's strongest aliens, and thus off limits for Kevin. Everything else though? Fair game.

Gravattack could create a black hole (19.5 Yottatons - 614.82 FOE)
Gwen
(TN by TheAwfulKnight)
Gwen Tennyson is an Anodite, one of the most powerful beings in the galaxy, capable of manipulating life energy and performing magic. Her power is also… extremely inconsistent. However, Kevin has been capable of fighting both against and with Gwen in her base form, and are portrayed to be more or less even in power. You could make an argument for scaling to Gwen's Anodite form, but that's quite a bit more iffy, and doesn't change much anyways, so we're just gonna go for base Gwen here.

Ben’s partner after Gwen and Kevin got written out of the show. In spite of his initial inexperience, his plumbers training and many gadgets make him a formidable fighter. One that is shown more than capable of holding his own against foes on Kevin’s level.
Reflected a laser with a spoon without looking
Is best boy (no question)
Vilgax
(By TheAwfulKnight)
Vilgax has been an adversary to Ben and the gang since the beginning, so naturally he and Kevin have fought numerous times. Kevin has also fought Ben's aliens like Diamondhead, who have been able to defeat Vilgax previously.
Vilgax destroyed Mount Rushmore (18.432 Kilotons)
Malgax launched Diamondhead to Galvan B (6 Gigatons)

Generator Rex/Secret Saturdays Cast
Due to Ben getting accidentally sent across the multiverse, he ended up in the universe of another Cartoon Network show, Generator Rex. Kevin has never directly interacted with the Rex cast (outside of a non canon comic sequel), but he should be able to cross scale to them via Ben.
Another Cartoon Network property Ben has crossed over with, the Secret Saturdays, is confirmed to exist in the same universe as Ben 10 and should similarly cross scale to Kevin via Ben. It should also be noted that neither series is particularly well researched, this is mostly just for the sake of covering them.
Rex Salazar is capable of slowing down the ascent of an elevator launching into space (339.11 Megatons - 23.38 Gigatons of TNT)
Rex Salazar survived the huge nanite explosion
Zak Saturday was capable of reacting to a train coming at him (Mach 103)
Drew Saturday survived a shot from a cortex disrupter, which shuts down brain functions.
Gajeel
(Credit to the Satsuki vs Erza blog for help for scaling and most of the calculations for these feats)
Natsu Dragneel
Natsu and Gajeel have fought each other early in the series and have been equal. Then later on the series they've been considered equal in regular terms, and during the Second Battle of Fairy Tail, Gajeel notably tired out Natsu despite losing their fight. As a result, Gajeel should scale to basically anything Natsu has shown being able to do, at least in his base form.
Destroyed half the pillars supporting the Forbidden Temple (27.4 kilotons of TNT)
Caused significant damage to the Tower of Heaven (2.6 megatons of TNT)

Reacted to Suzaku’s attempt to blitz him, despite getting blitzed in the prior arc
Survived an attack from Ignia which nearly brought down Dogramag’s labyrinth (13.5 gigatons of TNT - 988.8 teratons of TNT)
Gray Fullbuster
Natsu is equal to Gray, therefore Gajeel should be comparable to anything Gray has also shown doing, at least without Devil Slayer.
Created multiple large ice constructs that dwarf buildings (3:25) (394.1 kilotons of TNT)
Froze an entire water park together with Lyon (24:00) (27.55 tons of TNT each)
Comparable to his father, who froze the Sun Village and the mountain-sized Eternal Flame (827.6 kilotons of TNT)
Instantly froze Ajeel’s sand golem and the surrounding area (191.9 tons of TNT)
Erza Scarlet
While Gajeel certainly isn’t as strong as Erza, he should be able to downscale her best feats; he’s certainly above early Erza, and is definitely above the Erza who was able to do the Deus Sama meteor feat, who was seriously wounded. As a result, he should scale to at least some of Erza’s best feats.
Clashed with Erza Nightwalker with enough force to destroy a huge floating island (7.64 kilotons of TNT - 65.9 kilotons of TNT)
Pierced through the enormous Plutogrim Cube with a spear (14.4 gigatons of TNT)
Dispersed Ajeel’s town-sized sandstorm with Nakagami Armor (100.6 kilotons of TNT)

Survived Azuma’s Terra Clamare explosion, multiple times in a row (3.77 megatons of TNT)
Lucy Heartfilia
As Gajeel is around the same level as base Natsu, he should generally scale to anything Lucy has done, with her being consistently portrayed as being below base Natsu throughout the original series as well as 100 Year Quest.
Taurus deflected all the pellets from a shotgun blast (Mach 12.7)
Celestial Spirit King punctured a massive hole through the Plutogrim Cube, splitting it into pieces (4 gigatons of TNT)
Celestial Spirit King carved a massive trench through the ground to the horizon (13.9 gigatons of TNT)
Engulfed a portion of a town with a blast (24.4 tons of TNT)
Dragon Cry
As Natsu overpowered Dragon Cry, Gajeel should fairly naturally scale to it and what it does.
Stated to be dozens of times more powerful than Etherion, and capable of obliterating entire nations (Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry movie) (5.9 petatons of TNT - 1.3 exatons of TNT)
The Phoenix
As Gajeel should scale to Natsu, who has grown in power since defeating Fairy Heart Zeref, you could argue him downscaling the Phoenix to some extent. We’ll give him it for the sake of being generous.
After absorbing magic from living things across the planet, produced a blast that could have surface wiped the planet and dispersed air across a large portion of the atmosphere (368.65 exatons of TNT - 390.77 zettatons of TNT)
Others
Gajeel should scale to a majority of feats throughout the series, being on the level of at least base Natsu within 100 Year Quest, meaning that any of these people should be fairly natural for Gajeel to scale to.
Laxus reacted to natural lightning (4:22) (Mach 1.2)
Dispersed a thunderstorm over top of a town (5:15) (14.4 megatons of TNT - 1.06 gigatons of TNT)

Destroyed a sandstorm with a single attack (17 kilotons of TNT - 2.04 megatons of TNT)
Beat Jura
Jura caused an eruption that, based on the name, could arguably be compared to that of Mt. Fuji (7 megatons of TNT - 24 megatons of TNT)

Etherion was stated to be able to engulf an entire country within its blast radius (245.8 teratons of TNT - 54.27 petatons of TNT)
The Eclipse Gate, which is stated to be equal to Etherion, caused worldwide weather phenomena as a side effect of its activation (4:45) (564.9 teratons of TNT)
Diabolos is stated to have three members comparable in strength to Suzaku, which is later confirmed to be referring to the other Dark Dragon Slayer Knights, Misaki, Haku and Kirin
Kirin reacted to Laxus’ lightning from extremely close range (Mach 878.7)
Haku was stated to be able to move at the speed of light (Speed of Light)
Weaknesses
Kevin
For all of Kevin's accomplishments, he’s not without his own issues and weaknesses. He’s known for being a tank, but still feels pain while armored and can even be hurt mid-transformation. He also gains any weaknesses that come with whatever he absorbs; for example, if he becomes metal, he can be magnetized or get eaten by anything that eats metal (hmmmmmm). When willingly absorbing DNA, the powers he obtains aren’t permanent, and will wear off after a while. Due to his Osmosian heritage, Kevin's DNA absorption only absorbs the abilities of his targets at 1/10 full strength, and there are certain materials he simply can’t absorb, like a Techadon ship. Certain technology can also harm Kevin, whether via specifically countering Osmosians, forcing Kevin to recursively absorb something—which renders him immobile—or straight up blocking his powers altogether. Probably Kevin’s most infamous weakness though, is that if he absorbs too much energy he can go insane. While he has overcome this weakness when absorbing DNA sources, he is still susceptible to insanity when it comes to energy.
Gajeel
Gajeel has a few weaknesses that come with being a Dragon Slayer mage. For starters, he has to replenish his magic by eating metals around him. While eating other sources (such as carbon and other forms of magic) has helped him in the past, it’s still risky as it can make him sick. He also has a really bad case of motion sickness.
Aside from those weaknesses, he can also be rather reckless.
He’s also good at songwriting, but really bad at singing and playing guitar.
Verdict
Stats
In terms of stats, both Kevin and Gajeel have a few ends you could argue for. In terms of Gajeel’s stats, he should naturally scale to most feats within Fairy Tail - fairly easily putting him in the Country-Multi Continental and FTL ranges.
However, you could argue him scaling to Erza and the Phoenix - admittedly, these are fairly debatable inherently; both are awkward to scale him to narratively, but you can argue both, so, what the hell; let’s give Gajeel some leniency here and argue that he can scale to both. This would put him at around 370 zettatons of TNT, and 10c. Again, not too shabby.
…But, Kevin more than outdoes Gajeel even with the most basic scaling you can give him. At bare minimum, we can scale him to Goop, who was able to pull together Planet Piscis, putting Kevin in the Ronnaton range, and his own feat of flying to Galvan Prime in a short period of time, which gets upwards of billions of times the speed of light; not to mention his feat as Ultimate Kevin of going to the Forge of Creation, getting upwards of septillions of times faster then light. If you really wanted, you could argue the Gravattack and Gwen scanning feats to put Kevin even higher than this, but it’s really not necessary - no matter what ends you give Gajeel, even giving him the supreme leniency of the Celestial Spirits Arc which would get him in the FOE and Millions c range, it’s still not enough to match Kevin in the stat trinity.
As a result, Kevin pretty cleanly should take stats, no matter how you slice it.
Arsenal & Abilities
When it comes to their arsenal and abilities, Kevin has a very solid lead, though it’s not like Gajeel is lacking in options. The Iron Dragon Slayer doesn’t normally carry any extra equipment with him into battle, and while he did carry the Celestial Spirit Banishment Keys for a while during the Eclipse Celestial Spirits Arc, their uses are specifically tailored for reversing the gates that call forth Celestial Spirits, and wouldn’t have any bearing on the outcome of this fight.
Kevin, on the other hand, brings enough in his arsenal for nearly any situation. His car, for example, has an in-built AI for automatic attack and can support him in battle, and he can call it to his side at any time. It’s also rocking guns and missiles, has electric force fields and an invisibility mode, can detect energy signatures, function underwater, increase its power by 50%, and more, and Kevin can also control these functions of the car manually, if he wants to. Not to mention that it’s survived plenty of beatings due to its Khoros-5 Engine Block made out of Infinitum, a virtually indestructible metal, and will be able to tank anything Gajeel throws at it. Kevin’s claimed that the car is “everything-proof”, and has got the tests and experience to back that up.
It’s not magic-proof, but the type of magic encountered in the Ben 10 universe that can directly mess up Kevin’s car (such as telekinesis and transmutation) functions differently to the kind of magic that Gajeel himself wields (iron-based body enhancement and shadow powers). It may be arguable that Gajeel’s Iron Shadow Dragon Mode could to deal increased damage to the car, but its various defences like the force fields, missiles, invisibility for hiding, and its own raw durability should allow it to stick around and be of great use to Kevin. There’s also Kevin’s Taydenite car, which is significantly stronger and more durable than his regular car, and provides him with a great supply of Taydenite (in addition to the piece he keeps in his pocket and the one in his regular car) that he can draw from at any time.
The Rustbucket 3 gives Kevin another means of long ranged attack, able to shoot missiles at Gajeel from afar in the air, whilst Kevin is kept safe. This forces Gajeel to approach or utilise his own, fewer, ranged options to reach Kevin, but the Osmosian can also deal with those. He’s got his Laser Cannon, Ice/Net Gun and Ultimate Tech Blaster for various means of ranged attacks, plus, his Energy Cuffs restrain the target and deactivate their powers, so landing these on Gajeel would lock out his access to his Iron Dragon Slayer magic, as well as his Shadow Dragon magic. Furthermore, Dispel magic in Fairy Tail, which cancels out a target’s magic, has consistently proven effective against comparable members of Fairy Tail, like when Coordinator used it against Elfman & Mirajane Strauss, as well as Erza Scarlet. Gajeel has not shown a resistance to abilities of this nature before, so it would be an effective counter to his abilities.
In regards to their abilities, Gajeel has a wider arsenal of magic spells to draw from in all the ways he can manipulate his body with his Iron Dragon Slayer magic, and access to his upgraded Iron Shadow Dragon Mode on top of that, while Kevin’s mutations aren’t a standard ability he can utilise in any random fight. His greater quantity doesn’t necessarily mean they are of greater quality though. While Gajeel has the ability to become intangible while in his Iron Shadow Dragon Mode, this is limited by his pool of magic, and Kevin’s Osmosian physiology allows him to absorb the energy, life force and DNA of people, which would greatly weaken Gajeel and allow Kevin to gain the Dragon Slayer’s own powers. This includes beings physically made of energy, like Anodites, and moreover, Gajeel is unable to deal any damage of his own whilst intangible, and must become tangible once more to harm his opponent. On top of this, Dragon Slayers cannot eat their own element when created by themselves, so Kevin absorbing Gajeel’s own iron would prevent him from being able to eat it as a means of restoration and regeneration. Any other iron is fair game though.
Gajeel’s own iron is superior to many of the materials Kevin would normally be able to absorb, such as wood, stone and rubber, but Gajeel’s fight against Torafuzar shows that he can struggle when faced with materials of greater durability, such as steel. Kevin has absorbed steel before, and has vastly superior materials that Gajeel wouldn’t be able to do much against, such as Infinitum and especially Taydenite, which he has a steady supply of thanks to his car. Both can shapeshift their bodies into various weapons and tools, but while Gajeel has shown much greater ingenuity and versatility than Kevin has, Kevin is able to directly manipulate the original material he’s absorbing. Doing this to Gajeel’s Iron Skin would be detrimental for the Fairy Tail mage, and could have the potential to be lethal, should Kevin wish. While Gajeel’s body is protected from the Dragonization process thanks to the antibodies created by Metalicana, this is a different type of protection to biological manipulation than Kevin controlling the materials he comes into contact with, and it could not be reasonably said that he would have protection from this.
Gajeel’s generation of iron to use for his magic is limited by his reserves of magic, as well as any iron he could find nearby to eat and restore his magic, but, once he has absorbed a material, Kevin has shown the ability to generate it almost endlessly. He can use this to encase others in his absorbed material, even Anodites, which have bodies made of energy, and while Gajeel might be able to break out of weaker materials, encasing him within Taydenite would be an instant win move Kevin could pull to end the fight. Kevin is also able to regenerate his body more easily with absorbed materials, such as when he restored his hand when it was cut off, whereas Gajeel’s ability to heal through consuming iron has never been shown to the extent of restoring lost limbs. A much greater Dragon Slayer, Acnologia, was never able to restore his lost arm after Igneel tore it off, even after absorbing the Rift in Space and Time, so Gajeel would similarly be unable to regenerate to the same degree Kevin can, no matter how much iron he eats.
Gajeel has plenty of magic and skills to keep up with Kevin, but his natural abilities as an Osmosian afford him many of the same abilities as Gajeel, and more. His occupation as a Plumber and preparedness for almost any situation with his vehicles gives him an important leg up over Gajeel in terms of an arsenal, as the Fairy Tail mage doesn’t normally carry anything on his person and just heads into battle brute forcing his way to victory. Which, to be fair, works a lot of the time, but against Kevin’s greater equipment and wealth of Osmosian abilities, it ultimately falls short.
Tertiary Factors
Finally, in terms of tertiary factors, both have a few advantages we should cover.
First of all, Gajeel for sure has more impressive showings of AoE with his magic then Kevin has usually shown with his typical attacks. Spells like Iron Dragon’s Roar and the Iron God Sword simply have a lot better showings of hitting a wide area then Kevin’s usual attacks do, by far.
In terms of skill and experience, Gajeel also has arguments for edges - he’s been fighting for longer and generally has some better showings of raw skill and fighting more generally skilled opponents then Kevin has - though, Kevin’s not a slouch in this department either. Experience wise, it’s more likely Kevin takes it. He’s generally fought for longer then we’ve seen Gajeel fight for on-screen and Ben 10 takes place over a much wider timeframe then Fairy Tail does, meaning even giving Gajeel some leniency, it’s unlikely he’d take this category either.
In terms of smarts, it’s also not really close. Kevin’s just way smarter then Gajeel. Gajeel’s no idiot, but Kevin’s deductive intellect and far greater array of fields he’s mastered far exceed anything Gajeel’s done, and it doesn’t help that Kevin’s also comparatively a lot more adaptive of a fighter - while Gajeel’s likely more skilled, Kevin’s intelligence makes up for that deficit.
There’s a lot more areas you could make points of - Gajeel’s greater endurance and pain tolerance, Kevin’s general better showings in battlefield intelligence on top of general intelligence, but overall, tertiary factors should roughly equal out, with a small edge to Kevin.
Conclusion
Kevin Levin
Advantages:
Takes the stat trinity by a very wide margin
Smarter
More versatile weapons and abilities
Can absorb Gajeel’s magic
Energy Cuffs would lock Gajeel out of his magic
Iron Dragon Slayer magic essentially fuels Kevin's absorption ability
Can always become a substance Gajeel can’t damage (Taydenite, Infinitum, his car, etc.)
Regeneration makes him harder to kill
Just as, and likely more, experienced
Has the best one-liners in the series
Has a loving girlfriend
Disadvantages:
Turning into metal allows Gajeel to eat him (unless he absorbs Gajeel’s own iron magic)
Fewer options for AOE
Less skilled
Mutations are very much non-standard
Couldn’t pound your grandma
The retcons (Vietnam flashbacks)
Gajeel Redfox
Advantages:
More skilled
Better pain tolerance and endurance
Could be just as experienced…
Eating Kevin’s metal form could replenish his magic, allowing him to last longer in the fight…
Better AOE with spells like Iron Dragon’s Roar and Iron God Sword
Can become intangible in Iron Shadow Dragon Mode
Iron Shadow Dragon Mode is actually standard…
Has a coherent backstory
Has a loving girlfriend and child
CONSUME THE CAR*
Disadvantages:
Loses the stat trinity, hard
…but is likely outdone in that field
Less intelligent
…but Kevin can still regenerate, so it wouldn’t be a crucial wincon
Kevin can also absorb Gajeel’s Iron Dragon Slayer Magic or a non-metal substance, such as Taydenite
Kevin can absorb both Iron and Shadow Magic
…But Dragon Force isn’t (bro it’s standard for both Natsu and Wendy why does he not get shit)
*Can’t actually damage Kevin's car
In conclusion, while this match had some room for discussion, it shouldn’t really be a surprise that Kevin should come out in basically every scenario.
In terms of stats, it’s very, very clear cut in Kevin’s favor - Gajeel being baseline Planet and 10c pales in comparison to Kevin being much, much stronger and faster - scaling to feats in the Solar System and Octillions C range, meaning that Gajeel will be struggling to keep up with anything Kevin can pull out in terms of stats already, pretty much being one-shot no matter what.
And unfortunately for Gajeel, that’s not the only area where he falters, Abilities also favor Kevin - while his ability to absorb metal is helpful and being able to replenish said magic, and his AoE magic is helpful, Kevin’s abilities are far more versatile and far more helpful to an actual fight then Gajeel’s more limited abilities by comparison, with nothing Gajeel has letting him overcome the massive stat gap, while Kevin has multiple ways even besides just hitting Gajeel to get the win here, meaning he should pretty cleanly take abilities as well.
Tertiaries are certainly closer, but Gajeel likely being more skilled isn’t going to save him here - and Kevin’s been shown to be far smarter overall, which only gives Gajeel more issues to work around. And experience should be around even, meaning tertiaries should be around even.
Overall, no matter how you look at it, Gajeel is severely outclassed at every single angle beyond some tertiary factors, which is only a poor sign for the Dragon Slayer. While he could certainly try to give Kevin pause, the Plumber’s superior stats and abilities ensured this battle wouldn’t drag-on for too long - gotta say, maybe he wasn’t gonna absorb this loss very well.
The winner is Kevin Levin.

You left out Gajeel 's Dragon force, his guitar skills, and being a BIG help in defeating Aldoron, the wood dragon god said to be stronger than Acnologia. Infact for a few minutes as a giant he matched and overpowered Aldoron.
ReplyDeleteDragon Force is non-standard. We literally put this in Gajeel's disadvantages.
DeleteHe still has it and you counted old mutations Kevin did as a kid. You should have atleast included it in the forms list even if it doesn't change the outcome
Deletei could take them both on tbh...
ReplyDeleteU guys went over b10 cosmology but not fairy tail. The verse has infinite universes, timelines and infinite spatial dimensions. At its max power it wud one shot the b10 verse
