But if there is one thing they are known for, it is their expertise in making platform games, and among all the platform icons that exist in the gaming world, these two are their most iconic ones!
Mario, The super star.

Experience & Skill
Mario
Even in his old days, Mario has experienced almost everything; Goombas, Koopas, he has beaten Bowser two times already (The second time using the environment to defeat him), defeated Tatanga and Wart (In Subcon, a world which Wart can manipulate), beaten Wario using power-ups, and defeated all the guardians of the zones (including a witch, three little pigs, a rat, a bird, etc.) and basically any crap that the Mario Land team could come up with.
Mario is also very intelligent, as can be seen in Dr. Mario, where he is able to fight viruses. In addition, he knows how to play golf, fly planes and submarines, and play the flute very well. What a man!
Kirby
Kirby has faced every type of enemy in his adventures: Waddle Dees, bombs, spikes, monkeys, a damn living tree, Dedede himself on multiple occasions, Meta Knight, etc. He has proven himself to be a highly skilled swordsman and wrestler, defeating Dark Matter, a being of unparalleled evil, and Nightmare himself, who could manipulate the dreams of others. It must be said that this was thanks to the help of certain objects, but it is also true that Kirby deserves credit for these battles.
Equipment
Mario
Magic Mushroom
The iconic Mushroom, let Mario turns into Super Mario, a powerful and taller version of himself that left him destroys bricks or tank another shot.
Fire Flower
The other iconic mario item, basically just let mario throw fireballs at enemies, in Super Mario Land 2 the appearance changes, but it’s basically the same thing.
Star(Man)
This Star makes mario completely indestructible for 11 seconds! a very powerful item that let Mario live The happy life.
Superball
Super Mario Land 1 version of the Fire Flower, throws a ball that reflects into anything surface and can recollect coins.
Bunny Mario
These ears let Mario slow down his descent or Hover in midair, basically a weaker version of the Super Leaf from Mario 3, but still pretty cool.
Super Leaf
This magical leaf makes Mario fly for some time if he runs fast enough, it also can destroy blocks with its tanooki tail.
Tanooki Suit
Basically the same as the Super Leaf, but this lets Mario be capable of turning into an indestructible statue.
Frog Suit
Makes Mario’s water mobility much better, in land, makes Mario basically jump very high and fast. The only problem is that Mario can’t… crouch for some reason.
Goomba’s shoe
Mario can steal Goomba’s shoe, this wonderful shoe makes Mario capable of walking through spikes and other dangerous hazards, except lava.
Pow Block
A block that destroys basically every enemy on-screen, making it a very powerful item.
Golf Club
I hate golf, but just for you Mario, I can enjoy it.
Plane
A plane that mario used in Super Mario land, let Mario shoot some bullets (See experience and skill section)
Kirby
Maxim Tomato
Let Kirby recuperate some missing HP, yummers!
Warp Star
Kirby's main method of transporting this magical star can fly with enough fuel and let Kirby fly to other areas or even space!
Rainbow Sword
A magical sword that kirby used against Dark Matter in Dream Land 2, it doesn’t shoot any projectiles, but it still works as a very powerful sword! It can also reflect projectiles.
Abilities
Mario
Yeah, this version of Mario doesn’t really have much Haxs (Maybe self sustenance by breathing in water and space but that’s basically all)
Kirby
Inhale
The main ability of our favorite pink puffball, Kirby can inhale everything he is near him by opening his mouth, this absorbs near enemies or objects. If Kirby doesn’t want to eat a thing, he can puff it out in the form of a star, causing damage to a nearby enemy. The most interesting part is Swallow, where Kirby swallows the thing he has in his mouth and it is an enemy with a special ability, he can basically copy it. Other games like Block Ball show how Kirby can also absorb enemy by mere touching them
Copy Abilities
Kirby’s main stick, he can basically take the powers of the thing he eats, Kirby’s adventure have 25 copy abilities available and Kirby’s Block Ball have 4, i will use them.
Kirby’s Adventure:
Kirby’s Block Ball
 | BurningKirby flies straight up as a fireball. Destroying any type of blocks. |
 | Needle:Kirby can turn into a porcupine and release needles all over his body. |
 | Spark:Kirby generates electricity around him, allowing him to break most types of blocks he moves through as long as the force field is activated |
 | Rock:Turns into a rock, Kirby be happy. |
Cloning
Kirby can clone himself to do his iconic dance! but more importantly, touching one of those clones kills all enemies on-screen.
Support
Rick, Kine and Coo
Animal friends who are always there for Kirby on his adventures to save the world! Rick, the Hamster, Kine, the Fish and Coo, the Bird. They are basically the main gimmick in Dream Land 2, so their support is fine. Also, given that they also have copy abilities, some descriptions might’ve shorter to not repeat already said things.
Rick: The Hamster, is basically a faster kirby but unable to fly, so some areas are impossible to get with him

 | Rick extends quills from his back, but leaves his front vulnerable. |
 | Freezes enemies around Rick, he cannot move while doing this. |
 | Rick breathes flames with a low range. |
 | Kirby balances on top of Rick as the hamster turns into a rolling boulder, crushing all enemies in their path. |
 | Rick balances a parasol on his nose and a ball-shaped Kirby on top of it, harming enemies above him. |
 | Rick throws Kirby like a boomerang in the direction he is facing. |
Kine: The fish make Kirby's mobility in water way better, the only disadvantage is that he can’t really do anything on land.
 | Kine spits large fireballs from his mouth, which slowly travel in a straight line. |
 | Lets Kine spit a crescent-shaped laser from his mouth, which grows as it travels further. |
 | Freezes enemies around Kine. Using the power for too long temporarily turns Kine into an ice cube, paralyzing him. |
 | Using this power causes Kirby and Kine to grow spikes all around them. |
 | A large parasol appears from Kine's mouth, which can be used as a shield for a limited time. |
 | A light bulb appears from Kine's mouth, which can harm foes and illuminate dark areas, revealing hidden doors. Letting go of the B button launches it forward, exploding when it collides with something or the button is pressed again. |
 | Lets Kirby assume his stone form inside Kine, making him sink downwards and defeat enemies. |
Coo: The Bird, He can fly extremely quickly through the air or even in the water, while’s not as fat as Rick on Land, he doesn’t really have bad mobility there either.
 | Kirby ignites and the duo dives downward diagonally forward, harming foes below. |
 | Coo throws three feathers ahead which spread out. |
 | Kirby breathes ice which can be angled in an arc below Coo. |
 | Kirby shoots out a large spike from his body which can harm foes below. |
 | Coo equips a Parasol and starts spinning rapidly, similar to the Tornado ability. |
 | Kirby shoots out a single lightning bolt below him. |
 | Kirby turns to stone, causing the duo to plummet to the ground. |

Kirby
Overall
- Kirby’s Dream Land sold 5.3 millions
- Saved Dreamland for Nightmare and Dark Matter.
- Defeated many bosses in many different areas
- Killed the fucking tree many times, many fucking times.
- Defeated Dedede.. Twice.
- Ate a lot and that’s important to him.
- Made friends with Rick, Kine, Coo and Dedede.
Strength
- Can lift up castles after turning into a balloon.
- Can throw enemies hard enough to destroy blocks.
- Destroyed Mr Shine & Mr Bright, who are the sun and moon of the verse. (Star)
Speed
- Can fly to the moon in a short period of time
- Fast enough to difuminate stars in his battle against Nightmare
- Laser ball can shoot lasers, and Kirby is able to dodge them.
- Mr Shine can fly from the sun to the earth in seconds. (Around 500c) (Massively FTL)
- Mr Shine & Bright can literally change Night into Day or vice versa, so it’s probably valid.
Durability
- Survived a bomb explosion on his stomach
- After defeating Nightmare, he exploded, making a sizable hole on the Moon. (229.2 exatons) (Moon)
Before The Verdict
Wart can WHAT?!?!?
Yeah, Dream-based universes, everyone’s favorite, basically some Mario 2 Guidebooks and that shit said that “Wart can deform all of Subcon” and “Mouser can destroy sweet dreams”, so is anything wrong with these statements?
No. at least in my opinion there’s nothing with these statements, the problem is that Mario (at least this version) Can’t scale lmao, these things are more hax-based things that actual power, the best you could argue is Mario surviving mousers bombs, but still is very iffy.
Tatanga’s Speed feat
Some statement from Super Mario land 1 and 2 said that Tatanga travelled interstellar distances, problem is that the feat is very vague and “suddenly coming” isn’t really a good timeframe to work with, if you are generous you can buy the low end, that puts Mario into 4 Millions c, pretty good for this lmao, but i don’t really sure how to feel about this
Are Sun feats valid?
Yes. The fucking sun is big and there’s nothing to prove it isn’t, if you are BORING you could say the small sun is city level, but cool kids buy Star level NES mario smh…
Kirby is the exact same, sun lovers win today yayy i love burning!!
Where is Wario’s Scaling?

I am always ok with like using co-op for games like this, but unsure how to feel about a fucking select file screen, if you want to use this give kirby information manip with the bomb, but it depends on the person who you ask.
And no, these two beings are perfect, they don't have weaknesses.
Verdict
Stats
They are pretty even in AP in all of the ends, both can destroy brick/blocks, lift up heavy things, and more important both have feats related to the sun, you can say Kirby one is more valid because he has other cosmic feat to support it, but that implies don’t buying Mario Sun feat and thats boring smh. Basically Both are Tied in AP, but you could argue Kirby cosmic feats being more valid and he still has the Moon explosion feat
Speed is more tricky to decide, Mario can dodge lasers at relativistic speed, which is pretty good, but Kirby has the Mr Shrine feat, which basically flew from the earth to the sun in seconds, which should go around 500c, yeah, you see the difference see, Kirby is basically 2390 times faster! Too, if you don’t buy it for some reason, they should be pretty even in speed because both have feats involving laser dodgin, and if you WANT TO GO CRAZY, Mario scales to the Tatanga interstellar feat, which is 4 Millions c, way, WAY above any NES/GB Kirby back there. Both are even in low ends, Kirby is faster in reasonable High ends and Mario is way faster if you are insane
Arsenal and Haxs
The trickies category to decide, both have a lot of Power Ups and Items back there, but unfortunately, you could see the difference, sure Mario have technically way more arsenal, but all of them is basically by Kirby’s copy abilities: Fire, Fly (Which Kirby’s one is innate), turning into a stone, water mobility, Kirby has more instant KO abilities, too Starman would make Mario resist it, which is the best chance Mario has to beat Kirby, problem is that Starman only last a few seconds and Kirby could just one shot with scratch or with some of clones. Mario could try to fly with it’s plane or magic leaf, but like I Said, kirby fly ability is innate, or even then, he could just use the UFO ability.
And let’s not forget Kirby main gimmick: Inhale, Kirby could just absorb Mario by eating him or by mere touching, the Kirby’s block ball is a little tricky, but you could argue that Kirby can copy abilities by just touching enemies, this is something that Kirby always do in the first place against an enemy, so Mario needs to constantly dodge him to win, even then, the speed difference just makes Kirby blitz to hell. AND EVEN THEN, Animal friends gave kirby a Numbers advantage + Clones, Making Mario really fucked here, sorry goat, Kirby take Abilities but Mario technically takes Arsenal!
Tertiary Factors
Both are pretty tied, will say Kirby probably fought against strongest opponent, but Mario fought against and defeated Wart in a realm that he can manipulate, so Mario probably takes experience, also he is a doctor, and kirby in this era didn’t really show any High IQ feats like in later instances, so he is smarter and that shit. Even then, Kirby should be more skilled, by being a pretty competent Swordsman and a Wrestler, which is something Mario hasn’t done. Mario Takes experience and Intelligence, but Kirby takes combat skill

In conclusion, even with Mario’s impressive strength, arsenal and experience, Kirby’s ability were just too much, Inhale is the perfect counter to Mario’s arsenal, the Rainbow sword can reflect fire flower beams and the Animals friends game him the perfect number’s advantage; In the end, Mario lost the Star and was deleted by Kirby’s Power
